PLFC EAL students reflecting on 'One Billion Rising Campaign' - 3

55% of women get raped or beaten up every year. It is important to raise awareness on violence against women because women are assumed to be the weaker sex and don't have the power to fight back. The violence that is happening in this generation is increasing every year.
Women are protesting by dancing to stand up for their rights and to fight back. The abuse of women should stop!

One Billion Rising is a campaign that aims to fight againt women's oppression by society and men. It's a movement to raise women's voices and to make sure women are heard by others so we can stop the violence.

It's important to raise awareness because people need to know what's going on; women are being hurt, killed, raped and beaten up. They need respect and dignity. Women should not be treated like objects, women's bodies are sacred and none has the right to change that.

One Billion Rising have had the great idea of dancing because it calls people's attention and it is a nice artistic way of showing the women's feelings. The song has strong lyrics, which tells people how women need to be treated.

Today lots of women around the world are being abused bu their husbands and others. They are forced to do things they don't want. According to recent survey, one in three women is suffering from physical, sexual, verbal and psychological abuse. It is very important to raise awareness, because that will help every woman to know their rights. It will also help to stop all abuses that are happening in our lives.
On Billion Rising campaign is using the dance, because dance is powerful but doesn't offend people's feelings or rights. They say when they dance, they are connected to other women around the world.
